We’re excited to announce our next production: Ken Ludwig’s Shakespeare in Hollywood, directed by Ernest Pruneda and assistant directed by Jessica Chang. This fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy play brings together classic Shakespearean characters and the glitz of 1930s Hollywood for a wildly entertaining ride.
Auditions will be held on May 25th & 26th at 6:30 pm, with performances running July 18th through August 30th.
This show is a perfect blend of Shakespearean wit and old Hollywood charm, and we can’t wait to bring it to life. All performers aged 14 and up are encouraged to audition, and age ranges for roles are flexible.
Available roles are:
Max Reinhardt - A passionate, eccentric Austrian film director trying to bring A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the silver screen. Full of artistic flair and frustration.
Will Hays - The no-nonsense Hollywood censor. A stickler for morality and rules—he’s here to make sure nothing gets too risqué.
Daryl - A slick Hollywood producer with a sharp tongue and quicker comebacks. Think fast talker, all business, always moving.
Louella Parsons - The famous gossip columnist. Nosy, witty, and always in the know—expect sass, sparkle, and scoops.
Dick Powell - A charming and famous film actor. Handsome, charismatic, and a good sport, even when things get weird.
Olivia Darnell - An elegant, intelligent young actress with a poetic soul. She’s playing Hermia and starts falling for Oberon—for real.
Lydia Lansing - A glamorous but not-so-talented starlet. Dating Daryl, she’s loud, brassy, and hungry for the spotlight—classic Hollywood diva vibes.
Oberon - Yes, the real Oberon—King of the Fairies. He's accidentally transported from the Forest of Arden to Hollywood. Regal, commanding, confused by modern life.
Puck - Oberon’s mischievous fairy servant. Plays pranks, causes chaos, and loves every second of it. Must have sharp comedic timing and great physicality.
Joe E. Brown - A real-life comedic actor from the 1930s. Funny, animated, and slightly bewildered by the Shakespearean madness around him.
Ensemble/Various Roles - A utility player who may double roles (like wardrobe assistant, stagehand, etc.). Often comic relief and versatile in tone.
